US President Donald Trump Wishes Kim a Very ‘Happy Birthday’

US President Donald Trump has sent a happy birthday message to his arc rival, critic and enemy, Kim Jong-un, the maverick North Korean leader. The national security adviser of South Korea, Chung Eui-Yong has revealed recently.

Chung Eui-Yong who is on an official trip to Washington this week also met Trump has told media that he was given the special message to pass on to North Korea, which he delivered on Thursday.

On his arrival back to South Korea, Chung said, “The day we met was Kim Jong-un’s birthday and President Trump remembered this and asked me to deliver the message”.

It is believed that Kim Jong Un’s birthday was on January 8, though the secretive regime of North Korea has never revealed the date of his birth. Though the US government has listed Kim’s birth year as 1984, making him only 36 years old this year.

Though Chung did not say more about the message like whether it was a written message or whether it included any other information, beyond just birthday wishes.

This week, Chung Eui-Yong also met the US special envoy for North Korea, Stephen Biegun who has “reaffirmed close US-ROK coordination on North Korea”, US State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus said in her official release, using the initials for South Korea’s in its official name the Republic of Korea.

The two special representatives also discussed recent developments in the Middle East and their collective coordination on global security issues.

Next week, Foreign Minister of South Korea, Kang Kyung-wha will also meet US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in California along with their Japanese counterpart, Toshimitsu Motegi. In the meeting, North Korea and South Korea-Japan relations will be on the top of the agenda. South Korea has also said that there is an urgent need to apply practical ways to improve the ties with North Korea.

Though both the countries are reluctant and therefore negotiations between the two countries have been deadlocked ever since the failure of their meeting in Hanoi this February. North Korea has at that time set the US a year-end deadline for it to offer fresh concessions on the sanctions or it else it would bound to adopt a new way to handle this issue.

For the past few months, North Korea has been demanding international sanctions imposed over its nuclear and ballistic missile programmes be lifted. Now, with Birthday message from Trump to Kim may open new avenues of talks between both the leaders.
