Vegetarian KFC? Popular Chain Considers Menu Changes for Ayodhya Outlet
Ayodhya's surge in tourists post Ram Temple inauguration has led to new eateries, including popular chains, emerging near the temple.
After the grand inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the city has been drawing devotees and visitors from across the country. With an increasing influx of people, numerous food chains and shops are now opening up near the temple, providing delectable vegetarian options. In addition to traditional Indian cuisine, visitors can indulge in their favourite fast foods, such as pizzas from Domino's, conveniently located just a kilometre from the temple.
To operate food outlets along the Panch Kosi Parikrama—a 15-km pilgrimage circuit around Ayodhya that visits sacred sites linked to the Ramayana—establishments are required to refrain from serving meat and liquor.
"We have offers from big food chain outlets to set up their shops in Ayodhya. We welcome them with open arms, but there is only one restriction, that they should not serve non-veg food items inside the Panch Kosi," quoted Vishal Singh, a government official in Ayodhya, as reported by Moneycontrol.
Prominent food outlets like KFC are situated outside the 14 Kosi Parikrama Marg due to their offering of non-vegetarian food. "KFC has set up its unit at Ayodhya-Lucknow highway because we do not allow non-vegetarian food items here. We are ready to provide even KFC a space if it decides to sell only vegetarian items," Vishal Singh added.
According to the report, food shops experience thriving business if located on Ram Path, closer to the temple. Even outlets like Pizza Hut, situated approximately 8 km from the Ram Temple, are witnessing "fairly good business." However, there is a lament about not having a shop closer to the temple. Despite being located outside the Panch Kosi Parikrama Marg, the Pizza Hut outlet in Ayodhya continues to serve exclusively vegetarian food.
