Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Sam Bahadur’ Is Performing Consistently at The Box Office

Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur is performing consistently well at the box office despite facing tough competition from the soon to be blockbuster ‘Animal.’

The domestic collections for the film now stand at Rs 58.55 cr.

The biographical war drama features Vicky Kaushal, Sanya Malhotra, and Fatima Sana Shaikh in lead roles and is based on the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.

Sam Manekshaw was the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of field marshal.

Both ‘Sam Bahadur’ and ‘Animal’ released on 1st December however ‘Animal’ has been outperforming ‘Sam Bahadur’ since the very beginning.

Though ‘Animal’ depicts toxic masculinity, certain scenes are infused with violence, yet people are thronging to movie halls to catch the glimpse of the much-talked about film. ‘Animal’ is going to become one of the biggest hits of the year, even outperforming super hits like Jawan and Pathaan.

In contrast, Sam Bahadur’s box office performance has been slow but steady!

Reviews indicate that Vicky has brilliantly portrayed India’s first Field Marshal, his performance being the highlight of the film. He has exactly copied Sam Manekshaw’s mannerisms, walking style and body language. The actor has given his best shot to this role and fans say that he may bag many awards for this one!

The chemistry between Sanya Malhotra and Vicky Kaushal has been depicted beautifully. Audiences loved Sanya Malhotra’s graceful performance. The movie is well researched and the creators have taken time to delve deep into the subtle nuances of that period of history.

Film trade analyst Sumit Kadel in a post on X described the film and stated,  “SamBahadur is a splendidly Researched & detailed film on the legendary life of Field Marshal Sam ManekShaw. Every accomplishment, war tactic & valour of the veteran has been showcased with full glory. Director Meghna Gulzar deserves distinction marks for executing this inspirational & brave saga without any jingoism & chest beating.”

Trade analysts say that Sam Bahadur could’ve performed better, if its release date didn’t clash with ‘Animal.’

Some reviews suggest that though the film delivers good content, the narration is weak at certain points.

The informative film captures different facets of Sam Manekshaw’s personality; his bravery, strength, his humour and the gentlemanly behaviour he rendered to his subordinates. A great tribute to an unforgettable war hero who contributed immensely to the Indian military!
