The film directed by Anu Menon will also star Sanya Malhotra who will play the role of Shakuntala Devi’s daughter. Amit Sadh and Jisshu Sengupta are also portraying prominent roles in the much awaited biopic.

Shakuntala Devi’s father discovered her hidden talent of memorising when she was only three years old while they were playing a card trick. During road shows she displayed her mathematical skills to people and what was more interesting was that she did it without any formal education. To test her inborn mathematical skills she approached Arthur Jensen, a professor of psychology at the University of California.
She was given complex sums to solve such as cube root of 61,629,875 and the seventh root of 170,859,375. According to Arthur, Shakuntala provided the answers of these complex sums even before he could copy them down in his notebook.
He studied her capabilities and published the findings in an academic journal called ‘Intelligence.’ She was rightly called the ‘Human Computer’ and in addition to being a maths genius she also was a writer and an author of several books.
Critically acclaimed actress Vidya Balan has always done justice to her women oriented roles by playing strong women protagonists in films like ‘Kahaani’, ‘Dirty Picture’ or ‘Begum Jaan.’ Her fans would certainly have high expectations from this film too as Shakuntala was a pioneer in her field of work.
It would be interesting to wait and watch how Vidya would unravel Shakuntala’s dynamic character on the screen. So, viewers keep your fingers crossed for the release of this biopic on Amazon Prime Video.
