Virat Kohli Becomes the Fastest Scorer of International Runs as Captain

Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli has become the fastest to score 9000 international runs as a captain breaking the record of the former Australian captain Ricky Ponting. Virat Kohli achieved the milestone when he reached 22 runs against Australia during the second One Day International (ODI) in Nagpur.
The Indian skipper reached the 9,000 run mark as a skipper in his 159 innings while Ricky Ponting took 203 innings to achieve the record. Virat Kohli also became the sixth player in the world to reach 9,000 runs in international cricket as captain. Before him those who have achieved the feat are Graeme Smith (220 innings), MS Dhoni (253), Allan Border (257), Stephen Fleming (272) are also the other former captains in the list.

In the second One Day International, Australian captain Aaron Finch had won the toss and chooses to field in the match held in Nagpur.
The Australian team also made two changes on their side by bringing in Shaun Marsh and Nathan Lyon in place of Ashton Turner and Jason Behrendorff for the day-night match. After the toss, Finch said, “We expect it to spin a bit and hopefully when the lights come on, it might play better”.
India has kept the same team that won the opening game in Hyderabad by six wickets to reach 1-0 up in the five-match series ahead of the World Cup, that is scheduled to take place in May and June this year.
After the toss, Kohli said, “There won't be much dew in the evening as it's a dry surface. Not typical of the kind of pitches you get here, doesn't look like it will bounce much”. Virat Kohli has scored 44 runs in the first ODI in the five-match series, that India won by reaching 1-0 lead.
