A night meant for revelry at Birch by Romeo Lane in Goa morphed into a horrifying catastrophe within minutes. What began as a vibrant musical gathering transformed into chaos as flames, billowing fumes, and erupting fireballs engulfed the venue, ultimately claiming 25 precious lives. The harrowing video circulating online captuires the exact moment when an evening of dance and music dissolved into a terrifying inferno.
Although the exact trigger of the blaze remains unverified, preliminary accounts suggest that indoor fireworks used during a live performance may have ignited the structure. Authorities are also examining whether the nightclub lacked mandatory fire-safety accreditation, a critical factor that may have intensified the disaster. Located in Arpora, nearly 25 km from Panaji, the club had gained fame for its themed nights and energetic ambiance.
According to its Instagram page, the venue was hosting a “Bollywood banger Night” on Saturday. Viral footage shows a performer dancing to the iconic Sholay number “Mehbooba Mehbooba” moments before flames crawl across the ceiling. Just minutes prior, pyrotechnics had been set off indoors to amplify the show’s glamour, a decision that now stands at the center of the investigation.

The traged’s 25 victims include 20 staff members who were working the shift and five tourists who had come toenjoy the evening. The sudden blaze left little time for evacuation, trapping many inside the building as the fire spread at an alarming pace.
A police case has been filed under charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, criminal negligence, and acts endangering human life. Four staff members have already been detained in connection with the incident. Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies are actively searching for the club’s property promoters, Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra, who are believed to be in Delhi. Goa’s Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, confirmed that a special state team has been dispatched to locate them.
To prevent further risks, authorities have also sealed two additional Romeo Lane properties in Goa while investigations continue. The catastrophic event has sparked discussions on nightclub safety protocols, emergency preparedness, and the unchecked use of pyrotechnics in enclosed spaces.
What was intended to be a vibrant, rhythmic night of entertainment will now be remembered as a grim reminder of how a single misstep can unleash unprecedented devastation.
