Yuvraj Singh Says He Wants to Enjoy the Rest of His Life Now And He Rightly Deserves It

Yuvraj Singh’s speech announcing his retirement from international cricket left cricket fans teary-eyed on Monday. The speech was emotionally laced and the cricketer didn’t miss any opportunity to speak his heart out and displayed the vulnerable side to his personality. His body language clearly indicated that it was an emotional time for him.

After almost nineteen years of playing international cricket, he has decided to move on. He admitted that he has mixed feelings towards cricket. Cricket taught him how to fight, how to fall, how to dust himself off, to get up again and move forward. While in another interview, the cricketer also admitted that the sport gave him a lot of mental pressure.

He surely would have been more satisfied if he could have ended his career by playing and winning his last IPL match, alas that didn’t happen.

During a press conference, Yuvi admitted that his father was harsh on him and he was more like a “dragon” to him. He was scarred by his father’s strict ways however chatting with him after twenty long years gave him solace.

Speaking of his memorable matches, he said: the “2002 NatWest series final, my first Test hundred in Lahore in 2004, the 2007 Test series in England, of course the six sixes and the 2007 T20 World Cup. And then the most memorable one was the 2011 World Cup finals.”

Future Plans Ahead

Even though Yuvi’s cricket career has come to an end, he has great plans lined up ahead. He aims to give back to the society. After overcoming cancer, he desires to work towards the betterment of cancer patients through his NGO- YOUWECAN. There are high chances that a biopic would also be made on the cricket legend.

Hazel Keech-Yuvraj Singh’s spouse shared a heart-warming post in support of her husband after the retirement announcement. She also thanked all his fans who stood by him in the “darkest of times.” In the post, she called her husband a “hero.” “As a wife, it’s not my place to tell him what to do but if the time has come for him to decide that I’m going to make this decision I’ve been thinking about for the last two years, then he has my full support”, she said.  She’s happy that now she would have plenty of time to spend with him. As for the ‘sixer king’, he confessed that he wants to have fun and enjoy the rest of his life now. It has been a long and a tiring journey for him and he rightly deserves it.
