New Delhi: Nearly a month after Yuzendra Chahal spoke publicly about his divorce, Dhanshree Verma has now shared her side of the story. The actor-dancer candidly expressed her emotional turmoil during a recent podcast. Sge recalled breaking down during the court proceedings and also criticized Chahal for making a “t-shirt statement” on such a sensitive day.
Dhanashree’s Candid Account
In a heartfelt conversation with Humans of Bombay, Dhanashree said, “I still remember when I was standing there, waiting for the verdict. Even though we were prepared, I broke down completely. I just couldn’t stop crying in front of everyone. He (Chahal) walked out first.”
Chahl, meanwhile, drew attention by wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy” during the final hearing. Addressing this, Shanshree remarked that such a public spectacle was unnecessary and could have been avoided. “Are bhai, WhatsApp kar deta. T-shirt kyun pehna hai?” she said, suggesting that private messages would have been better than dramatic gestures in court.
He added that gossip and speculation often distort reality. For him, staying composed was better than reacting, as any reaction would attract more sensationalism. His words reflected stoicism, a quality he believes helps him survive public scrutiny.
The Divorce Timeline
The couple tied the knot in December 2020 in Gurgaon, quickly becoming a social media favourite. However, by February 2025, they appeared outside Bandra Family Court to file for divorce with mutual consent. Their request to waive the six-month cooling-off period was denied, leading to an extended wait.
On March 20, 2025, after 18 months of separation, the court officially dissolved their marriage. Reports suggest Chahal paid an alimony of ₹4.75 crore to Dhanashree.
Adding another layer of intrigue, Chahal has been spotted with RJ Mahvash multiple times in recent months, fuelling speculation about a potential new relationship.
