Zac Efron Will Be ‘Honoured’ to Play Matthew Perry in A Biopic

Hollywood actor Zac Efron is mourning the untimely death of his ‘17 Again’ co-star Matthew Perry. 

Zac Efron spoke about Perry at the world premiere of his upcoming film 'The Iron Claw'. He called Perry his mentor and acknowledged that he was the person responsible for teaching him comic timing while they were together during the shooting of ‘17 Again.’ 

Zac has expressed his desire to play the role of Matthew in a biopic if it is ever to be made. Even Matthew had previously expressed that he would want Zac to play his part in a biopic. 

“I'm honored to hear he was thinking of me to play him," Efron said. “We'll see. I'd be honored to do it.” 

“I’m devastated for his loss. He was a mentor to me, and we made a really cool film together. I looked up to him, I learned comedic timing from that guy. I mean, when we were filming 17 Again, it was so surreal for me to look across and have him be there, because I’ve learned so much from him, from his whole life,” Zac said.

In ‘17 Again’ Zac plays a younger version of Matthew Perry’s character Mike O’Donnell. The movie revolves around Mike and how disappointed he is about his life. He gets a second chance to live his life again when he falls into a time vortex. He becomes a teenager once again. 

Entertainment Reporter Athenna Crossby who was dining with Matthew Perry just a day before his death, told People magazine that the ‘FRIENDS’ star  “wanted to make a movie about his life and have a biopic made.” He was keen about Zac playing his part as he had done a wonderful job in the earlier film. 

Meanwhile, Matthew Perry’s funeral took place on Saturday which was attended by family, friends and cast members of the ‘FRIENDS’ sitcom. 

“We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend.”

“You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love.”
