Celine Dion Becomes the New Face of L’Oreal at 51

Celine Dion has become L’Oreal Paris’ brand new global ambassador and to top it all the good news comes in while she’s busy celebrating her 51st birthday. The singer admits that she never expected to receive this title and it comes at a time when she feels beautiful and confident like never before. The award-winning singer also admits that in her growing years she never really felt confident beauty-wise.

L’Oreal believes that the singer personifies the brand’s motto which is, “Because I’m worth it” and hence the decision to choose the diva. Speaking of becoming L’Oreal’s new face at 51, she says that she was honoured to become the ambassador as this brand gives women plenty of tools “to feel good to feel strong, to have a voice to fulfil themselves and to feel worth it.”

The singer reveals that it has been a long journey before she could reach this point where she finally feels confident and beautiful unlike before. Speaking to PEOPLE, Dion said that it was tough for her especially after her husband of 21 years Renee Angelil passed away in January 2016. Renee Angelil who was also Celine’s manager played a big role in her superstardom in the music industry. She met her husband and manager Renee when she was only twelve years old and he was 38. Their friendship culminated into marriage and despite the huge age gap between the pair, their marriage stood the test of time.

Renee, unfortunately, passed away due to Cancer which resulted in Celine taking charge of her entire family as a single mom to three boys. According to Celine, comforting her sons Rene-Charles and 8-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy was the toughest part after her husband’s death. Losing her husband also meant that she had to independently take decisions on her career. Today the 51-year-old singer is proud the way her sons have grown up.

When asked about being too thin, the singer says that everything is fine and there’s nothing wrong with her. She has taken to dancing lately and that helps her burn those extra calories. The singer who once dreamt of becoming a ballerina said that “Dancing has been in my DNA all of my life.”She now learns ballet with the help of her pal Muñoz four times a week. “I like to move and weight loss comes with it”, she added. Dion has also worked on her self image and now opts for bold fashion choices that reflect how she feels inside. She credits her stylists and her pal Muñoz for her bold looks.

“All the little things in life, and the big things, they have to make you stronger,” she says, “Otherwise, you don’t understand the meaning of life itself.” Today the Canadian singer feels stronger, more beautiful and more grounded. She’s ready to live life all over again.
