Kantara Will be Available on OTT Platform: Maker’s Reaction on This Buzz

Rishab Shetty's 'Kantara' opened in theaters on September 30 and emerged as a sensational blockbuster in Karnataka. The movie has been a money spinner in Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Tamil. There were news making rounds that the film is set to premiere on OTT on November 4. This created a fair deal of buzz among fans. The makers have now reacted to these rumors on social media.

The Mail Plot of the Film: 

The movie revolves around the story of protecting the forest having a temple of Gulinga Daiva from the greed of the king’s successor that may lead to sufferings due to the wrath of the Lord Gulinga for the  promise that is kept by the ancestors of Kasargod District.

They committed to keep the promise to protect the farm land till the end of their lives. The main lead Kaadubettu Shiva fights with the greedy king to get back their land at the festival Bhoota Kola. He gives a heads up to the court and fellow villagers the change that is about to happen and dies unknown mysterious death.

After so much struggle and up-downs, Shiva took part in the Bhoota Kola Festival. He won it and also got possessed by the Daiva. Later he disappeared in the jungle like his father. The story ends with Shiva's son asking Sundara and his mother about the sudden disappearance of his father.

Kantara: Box Office Collection

The Film, Kantara was released on September 30, starring Rishab Shetty, Achyuth Kumar, Kishore, Sapthami Gowda and Pramod Shetty. This movie collected around 6 Crores. The first-weekend collection was reported to be more than 20 Crore. 

While this might seem a paltry number, it grossed over 50 Crores alone from Karnataka in 12 days. On the other hand, its worldwide collection was around ₹80Cr in the same period.

At the end of 34 days, the film’s worldwide earnings stood at ₹305Cr, including its version released in Kannada, Hindi and Tamil. Its success is soaring high and has left behind the lifetime collection of Yash’s KGF: Chapter 1 in Hindi.

Speaking about the box office collection, Rishab Shetty confessed he had not anticipated Kantara to perform this well at the box office. “I don’t know. It just happened. Cinema has a certain energy and we have talked about our culture and folklore in the film. So, I guess with God’s blessings the film has been released pan-India,” he said.

OTT Release of Kantara

The makers have clearly stated that the film is not releasing on OTT on November 4 and that the official date would be announced soon. 'Kantara' is an action thriller directed by and starring Rishab Shetty. On Thursday, October 27, the makers reacted to reports of 'Kantara' making its way to OTT on November 4. The makers clarified that the rumors are not true and the makers will officially announce the date when they are ready to do the same. On the side, netizens are urging the makers to release the film on OTT as soon as possible for repeat viewing.
