This Is How Oprah Winfrey Reacted To Donald Trump’s Hate Tweet About Her 60 Minutes Segment

President Donald Trump criticized Oprah Winfrey in his hate tweet after viewing her 60 minutes segment on his presidency. He even went to extent of calling her ‘very insecure’. Reacting to the segment, the President stated that the questions posed to the group of people were slanted and biased. In his tweet he stated “Hope Oprah runs so she can be exposed and defeated just like all of the others!” On the other hand, Oprah’s initial reaction to Donald Trump’s hate tweet was confusion. She appeared in Ellen DeGeneres daytime talk show aired on Thursday and spoke about how she felt after reading Donald Trump’s hate tweet.

During the conversation, Ellen asked Oprah about how she felt after reading Trump’s tweet. Oprah said “I woke up and I just thought”, she then raises her hands in the air and then shrugs. She goes on to say “I don’t like giving negativity power, so I just thought, ‘What?””. After reading the tweet she even double checked the tape to check the validity in Trump’s statement.

The 60 minutes segment featured a diverse group of people from Michigan that had equal number of pro and anti Trump voters. Oprah explained “I went back and looked at every tape, I called the producers. Because what actually happened was when you do 60 Minutes, you sit in a room with at least seven other people who critique the piece before you air it, before you do the introduction to it, and then they give you the critique. So, they critique every word and is this fair – you have this whole panel of people looking at whether it was fair.”

She further explained that when she saw the tape, she felt something was missing in the tape. She had asked the question to the panel “Do you think, do you care about what other people think about America?” They had used only the Democratic side. It was missing a voice from a Trump supporter. She then remembered a guy Matt had said “No, we’re the only people that are worried what other countries are thinking of us.” She then made sure to add that line in to make it appear more balanced.

I was working very hard to do the opposite of what I was hate tweeted about so, it’s okay,” she shares. Oprah made sure that the tape was edited and re-edited so that the facts could be presented in a correct and fair manner.

Trump’s tweet has also raised speculations about Oprah running for Presidency.  However, Oprah made it clear earlier this year that this isn’t her plan. "I’ve always felt very secure and confident with myself in knowing what I could do and what I could not. And so it’s not something that interests me. I don’t have the DNA for it."
