A man, reportedly from a parked car, discharged at least nine bullets at one of the cafe’s windows.
In a heartfelt note shared via Instagram, the team behind Kap’s cafe expressed sorrow and strength in equal measure. “We opened Kap's Cafe with hopes of bringing warmth, community, and joy through delicious coffee and friendly conversation. To have violence intersect with that dream is heartbreaking...” the post read.

The incident has reportedly been linked to Khalistani extremist Harjit Singh Laddi, who has claimed responsibility for the attack. Laddi is a notorious fugitive and one of the National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) most wanted individuals. He is affiliated with Babbar Khalsa international, a banned terrorist group. Officials believe his motive stemmed from offense taken to an earlier statement made by Kapil Sharma, though specifics remain under wraps.
In an Instagram story posted shortly after, the Kap’s Cafe team also extended heartfelt thanks to Surrey Police and Delta Police for their alacritous response and efforts to maintain safety.
The cafe, which opened just a week ago on July 4, was envisioned as a warm community hub filled with conversations, smiles, and comfort food. While the ambiance may have been marred temporarily by this egregious act, the spirit of the team remains unfaltering.
