The assailant who was killed by police officers in the Nashville school shooting case was identified as 28 year old Audrey Elizabeth Hale; an alumnus of The Covenant School; a Christian Academy. 

The shooter entered the school through a side entrance possessing two assault rifles and a handgun.

Three children and three members of staff were killed in this shooting.

Audrey was a biological woman who identified as a man. She graduated from Nossi College of Art in Nashville with a degree in illustration and graphic design. According to the LinkedIn page Hale was an illustrator/ graphic designer and worked part time as a grocery shopper.

She posted her artworks online. 

Nashville Police Chief John Drake said at a news conference on Tuesday that Hale was under a Doctor’s care for an emotional disorder. This information was given by Hale’s mother. 

Just twenty minutes before the crime Hale sent a message to a basketball teammate Averianna Patton which read, “One day this will make more sense. I’ve left more than enough evidence behind. But something bad is about to happen.” 

A neighbour Sandy Durham was asked about Hale’s personality and if he found any warning signs. He replied to The Daily Beast, “ “Never. She was very sweet. I don’t know what happened. It’s very scary.”

Another source close to the family described the shooter as an “autistic, but high-functioning" individual.”

The police found a manifesto and maps of the Christian school featuring entry and exit points and CCTV camera units

The assailant had plans to carry out other mass shootings however Hale didn’t have any previous criminal records. 

The Metro Nashville Police Department along with Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives are investigating the case.
