‘Despacito’ Made Its Way To The Olympic Ice Dancing Competition, However The Twitter World Had Mixed Reactions

The song ‘Despacito’ sung by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and featuring Peurto Rican rapper Daddy Yankee is back in the news again. The song with more than 4.6 billion YouTube videos  has made its way in the ice dancing competition in the 2018 Winter Olympics.  Three pairs opened the program in PyeongChang, by dancing to the various versions of the song. The first pair who began the event were Xinyu Liu and Shiyue Wang from China. The second pair to come in were Alexander Gamelin and Yura Min from Korea and the last pair were Polish skaters Maksym Spodriev and Natalia Kaliszek.

Among all the three talented pairs, the pair that scored the highest were Polish skaters- Maksym Spodriev and Natalia Kaliszek with the highest score being 66.06.  As it is ‘Despacito’ is a catchy number and to add to that, the terrific performances of the dancers would have made the event even more impactful. However the internet had mixed reactions and it looks like ‘Despacito’ failed to create the same magic, as it did upon its release.

The internet was quick to react with the tweets below

I've never heard this Despacito song before. It's darn catchy. #PyeongChang2018 #IceDancing

While we are truly happy for the winners, seems some were not too happy after listening to the popular song thrice. The Tweets below says it all.
