‘Dosa King’ a.k.a P. Rajagopal’s Plea to Stay out of Jail Is Rejected by Supreme Court
P Rajagopal, 71, also known as ‘Dosa King’ wanted to marry one of his employee’s wife either based on his astrologer’s advice or because he was obsessed with her.
The final plea to avoid life sentence of the owner of the famed chain restaurant- ‘Saravana Bhavan’ has been rejected.

In 2003, he got embroiled in a scandal for attempting to bribe the woman and for assaulting the woman’s brother.
He also used to aid his employee Santhakumar and his family financially. As per reports, Rajagopal first persuaded the husband and wife to separate and when they refused, he abducted the husband and later killed him in 2001. His body was found in the forests. He was strangled.
A local court sentenced Rajagopal to ten years in prison, however, the High Court in Chennai increased it to life in prison in 2009. Since then he was challenging this conviction.
He made a final appeal on Tuesday based on medical grounds but it was rejected. The bench rejected the appeal as Rajagopal never raised this plea during the appeal proceedings.
Rajagopal’s restaurant- Saravana Bhavan serves south Indian vegetarian food and has 80 outlets across the world including Australia, Gulf, Europe and so on.
