The last Air India Boeing 747 bid farewell to Mumbai and headed for the United States of America on April 22. It has been sold to a US firm AerSale.  Before taking off, the iconic aircraft also known as the ‘Queen Of The Skies’ performed the traditional ‘wing wave’ manoeuvre.

Many people shared nostalgic posts about the aircraft named ‘Agra’ including a pilot who flew the plane once upon a time. He even shared a picture of himself from inside the aircraft.

The pilot can be seen seated in the captain’s chair, within the cockpit of the aircraft. The illuminated screens, control and navigation instruments, add to the beauty of the image.

“The privilege and joy of flying the Queen was unmatched. Hope she continues to soar with her new owners,” he wrote alongside the picture on X.

He added, “Godspeed, my beloved Jumbo.”

The picture has attracted a lot of views and comments from online viewers.

Captain, you were the chosen one.

My first foreign visit to England was on a Boeing Maharaja in 1985,and  fully enjoyed to and from from bangalore.

Wonderful!

Captain, u were born to bid this craft a stunning goodbye. Kudos to u!

“Sir, how did you know that she was perfectly airworthy as she has spent many months exposed to the weather dust and other elements?”

The pilot replied, “Engineering certification after all required checks, tests, and inspections obviously had to be done. Just like any other aeroplane coming out of maintenance or mothballing.”

The first of the four planes named ‘Agra’ departed from the Mumbai Airport. Another plane is expected to depart soon while the rest of the two planes will be dismantled for parts.

The last four Boeing 747s were used commercially in 2021. They had been parked in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai airport, since then. The farwell voyage of the aircraft was one of the most tracked on Flightradar24, a website that displays real-time aircraft positions.
