Meanwhile, the film has received some amazing reviews despite not being the typical Bollywood film.

Director Amit V Masurkar has been applauded for his crisp direction while Vidya Balan as always has been appreciated for her nuanced acting skills and perfect dialogue delivery.

‘Sherni’ revolves around a divisional forest officer who has to face all odds whilst handling an animal-man conflict situation. A female feline has been forcefully driven out from its natural habitat due to factors like deforestation and dried watering holes.

Vidya’s character has to make all efforts to save the animal, meet the demands of the villagers whilst simultaneously battling patriarchy and the easy-going attitude of officials within the department.

Vidya Balan admitted that she signed the film because she liked the idea that most of the film will be shot in the jungle.

Performances of Vijay Raaz, Neeraj Kabi, Ila Arun, Gopal Dutt, Brijendra Kala, Sampa Mandal, Amar Singh Parihar, Anoop Trivedi have also been acknowledged.

Actors like Jacqueline Fernandez and Katrina Kaif have given a thumbs-up to the film.

‘Sherni’ which was released on June 18 is streaming live on Amazon Prime Video.
