Bollywood Insiders Tweet on the Apparent Disparity within the Film Industry

The passing away of talented actor Sushant Singh Rajput has opened a can of worms on the “indifferent world” of Bollywood. What is interesting is that the so-called “double standards” and “hypocrisy” of Bollywood are being discussed by insiders of Bollywood themselves.

Personalities like Nikhil Dwivedi and Ranvir Shorey have shared frank and forthright tweets on the coldness of a certain class of people. Even renowned director Shekhar Kapur personally acknowledged Sushant Singh’s pain and spoke about people who let him down. Mind you these points are being brought up by insiders which indicates that there’s some truth in the matter.

Nikhil Dwivedi shared a hard-hitting post where he talked of Bollywood’s hypocrisy. He accused them of not keeping in touch with Sushant as his career was dipping. He also questioned, “Are you in touch with Imran Khan, Abhay Deol, and others?”

Check his tweet below:

Ranvir Shorey called out a group of people in Bollywood and labeled them as the “self-appointed gatekeepers of Bollywood.” Who are these people?

The Indian film industry is a diverse place and one can’t deny the fact that actors from smaller towns have also done well. That said, people come from varied backgrounds. There would be some who may not be tough, may have tender emotions, and maybe sensitive. We certainly can’t expect everyone to be tough.

In such a scenario, an environment of inclusivity, encouragement, and kindness would go a long way in making outsiders feel at home and part of the industry. Unconfirmed stories are doing the rounds that Sushant was not part of the “glitzy” parties and weddings. Surely he must have felt isolated when he experienced this disparity.

Besides being talented he was extremely intelligent and highly learned. So why was he left out? Why is this culture of nepotism and cliquism being popularized? Sushant Singh earlier admitted that it was important for people to appreciate his work as he did not have a godfather in the film industry. In a world where we can be kinder, why do we choose to demoralize?
