Here’s How Fergie Responded When Mocked For Her National Anthem Performance At NBA All Star Game

On Sunday night, Fergie received criticism for her National Anthem performance at NBA All-Star game at the Los Angeles Staples Center.  The ‘Glamorous’ singer sang a different version of the anthem that varied from the original anthem. This didn’t go well with audience who waited in anticipation to see the star sing in tribute to their nation. The anthem was spoiled by some off –key notes and the audience were quick to react.

Some individuals were seen smiling, laughing and chuckling.  Fergie went ahead and apologized but she also emphasized that her efforts and intentions were good natured. "I've always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA," the singer told TMZ exclusively on Monday (February 19) in response to the criticism. "I'm a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn't strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best."

Besides the live audience, the Twitter world was quick to react with tweets.

Fergie's national anthem finished 30 minutes ago and I still haven't recovered. A part of me will never be the same.

Amidst all the criticism, Mariah Carey had some advice for Fergie. She told TMZ that the Fergie shoudn’t listen to the haters. Darling, nobody needs to listen to that,” Carey said. Mariah was in a similar situation a few years back. She was also mocked for her performance in 2016 on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin Eve with Ryan Seacrest”, where she had to walk off stage.

Having been in Fergie’s shoes, a couple of years back, who else could have given better advice to Fergie than Mariah Carey. As for Fergie, she handled the situation the best way she could, which is- gracefully.
