HTC Plans to Launch U12+ in Early May to Avoid Competition from Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, Sony, Vivo, Moto and Oppo

According to Focus Taiwan, HTC U12 Plus will be announced in early May. The Taiwan based company might be making one hard attempt to revive its declining smartphone business, and as incredible as it may seem, the latest U12 could actually make good profit considering the careful selection of release date that may have been picked to avert direct competition from other smartphone flagship companies like Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, Sony, Vivo, Oppo and the like.

If sources are to be believed, we can expect a quad-camera 6-inch powerhouse with razor-thin bezels, no iPhone X-inspired design compromises, and an improved version of the Taiwanese company’s proprietary Edge Sense technology from the HTC U12+ next month. In specific, that’s what well-connected inside sources and reputable publications expect us to get.

Unfortunately, it remains unclear if that rumored ETA applies to the Western Hemisphere as well as select Asian markets, and there’s currently no firm word on retail pricing either. What Focus Taiwan‘s unnamed sources were able to confirm is pretty much what we already knew, including top-shelf specifications like Snapdragon 845 processing power, 6GB RAM, up to 128GB internal storage space, and fairly generous 3,420mAh battery capacity.

Those specs have all been rumored before and would all make the HTC U12 Plus high-end enough to compete with the real flagships of 2018.

The mammoth-sized HTC U12+ is unlikely to be joined to market by a smaller or lower-end U12, although a mid-range U12 Life with a notch design has been recently previewed by high-end analysts. If you felt the U11 came up short in the imaging department, with a single 12MP rear-facing camera and a single 16MP front shooter, the U12 Plus is widely expected to feature dual 12 + 16MP rear snappers and dual 8 + 8MP selfie cameras aimed at improving your selfie images through Artificial Intelligence. You must admire the fact that HTC smartphones were always good in terms of quality, appearance and features. Wish U12 Plus helps HTC to recreate the magic spell with it’s May launch.
