Mahima Chaudhry Recovers from Cancer; Shares Her Story to Anupam Kher in a Video

Actress Mahima Chaudhry well known for movies like ‘Pardes', had been suffering from Breast Cancer and this revelation was made by Anupam Kher.
Anupam Kher who is working with her on a project shared the news about her health in an Instagram post. He also shared a seven minute Instagram video where Mahima spoke to him about her cancer diagnosis and her treatment.
“Surprisingly, ever since I lost my hair, I was getting a lot of calls for web series and this and that. And I was like, oh my god, why I am getting calls now, when I don’t even have hair, so I didn’t tell them. And I couldn’t tell you that I can’t do your film. You started rattling about the role and I told you I need to talk to you in the night” she spoke about her phone call with Anupam.
The ‘Pardes’ actor said that she came to know about her cancer diagnosis when she went for her annual health-check up.
“I did not have any symptoms. I was getting my regular tests done and the person who was doing the tests said I should go and get this checked with Dr Mandar, an oncologist,” Chaudhry explained.
The Doctor told her that the cells do not look cancerous and they were pre cancer cells. The biopsy results came negative yet Mahima took the decision of removing them. Later, when a biopsy was done of the entire cells and tissues they found tiny portions of cells that had become cancerous.
She took chemotherapy thereafter as per Doctor’s advice. Mahima added that even though people are terrified of cancer, it is treatable when you catch it early.

In the video Mahima turned emotional when she recalled her painful ordeal especially when it came to disclosing the news to her mother. During her treatment she learned a lot from other women who were going through the same ordeal.Some of them went to work after treatment.
She revealed that she gained strength from a little boy in a chemo session who told her that it's the chemo medicine only that will heal her. “ Issi Se Tho Theek Hota hai”, he encouraged her. These were the people whom she learned from.
In an interview with ETimes Mahima said that while people thought that she was taking treatment in America, the truth was that she was all the while in Mumbai.
Her daughter didn’t attend school the entire period she was taking treatment and as she didn’t want her mother to contract Coronavirus.
“People didn't see the video fully, they have just jumped to conclude that I went to America for my treatment. But the fact is that I was very much in Mumbai. I am cancer-free. It got all over about 3 to 4 months back.”, Mahima explained.
The good news is that Mahima is cancer free now and she is also back to work.
