International tennis star Maria Sharapova has confirmed her retirement. Yes, she has decided to end her 19-year-long professional career at 32.
The 5-time Grand Slam champ has confirmed the news via an essay she wrote for Vanity Fair and Vogue, she bid farewell to the game she loves saying, “Tennis — I'm saying goodbye”.

The Russian blonde beauty started her career as a professional tennis player at the age of 14, in 2001. In 2004 she won Wimbledon and in 2005 she ranked No. 1 in the world.
Her winning spree turned unbeatable as she won the U.S. Open in 2006, the Australian Open in 2008. She was unstoppable at the French Open in both 2012 and 2014.
Sharapova has also posted a throwback picture on her official Twitter handle captioning it, “Tennis showed me the world — and it showed me what I was made of.”
The magic of Sharapova didn’t only unfurl on court, off-court too, she did establish a successful modelling career.
