Sadhguru Undergoes Surgery after Heavy Bleeding in The Brain And Is Currently Recovering

Founder of Isha Foundation, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, suffered a life threatening brain bleed. He has undergone an emergency surgery in Apollo hospital in Delhi and is currently recovering.

According to the statement from Isha foundation, Sadhguru was suffering from severe headaches for the past four weeks.

He worked relentlessly despite the severity of the pain.

The headaches became severe in the afternoon when he arrived in Delhi on March 14. On the advice of Dr. Vinit Suri an MRI scan was done. The scan revealed a massive bleed in Sadhguru’s brain. Scan also indicated that there was fresh bleeding leading up to the examination.

On March 17, his condition worsened. He complained of weakness in his left leg. The headaches increased accompanied by vomiting.

“He was finally admitted. A CT scan revealed a marked increase in brain swelling and a life-threatening shift of the brain to one side... he underwent an emergency brain surgery within hours of admission to relieve the bleeding in his skull. Sadhguru was weaned off the ventilator post-surgery,” the statement added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Sadhguru and wished him good health and speedy recovery. On microblogging platform X, P M Modi posted, “Spoke to @SadhguruJV Ji and wished him good health and a speedy recovery.”

Neurologist Dr. Vinit Suri of Apollo Hospital said “We were joking with him that we have done what we could but you are healing yourself. The kind of improvement we are seeing is beyond our expectation. He is now extremely well. All his brain, body and vital parameters are normal and he is making a steady progress.”

Post the surgery, Sadhguru was heard joking: “The Apollo hospital neurosurgeons cut through my skull to try and find something but found nothing -- totally empty. So they gave up and patched it up. Here I am in Delhi with the patched-up skull but no damaged brain.”
