The Hunt of a Thief Who is David Schwimmer’s Lookalike is Still on

The Blackpool Police are on the hunt of a thief who was caught on tape clutching a crate of beer in a restaurant in UK. The irony of it all is that the thief is an exact look alike of David Schwimmer from ‘Friends’.

The Hunt of a Thief Who is David Schwimmer’s Lookalike is Still on

On Tuesday Blackpool Police posted on Facebook requesting the public to help them identify a thief leaving a Blackpool restaurant. Coincidentally the image of the thief in the post strongly resembled David Schwimmer aka ‘Ross’ from ‘FRIENDS’ and needless to say the post attracted a number of comments. The police posted these lines on FB, “Do you recognise this man? We want to speak to him in relation to a theft at a Blackpool restaurant on the 20th September. If you know who this is, please email 7798@lancashire.pnn.police.uk quoting log LC-20180920-0670. Thank you for your help.” The theft took place at Mr. Basrai's restaurant on Talbot Road 20 September and the thief has stolen a jacket, wallet and a mobile.

This specific post attracted numerous comments approximately over 137,000 comments. The hilarious comments had plenty of references to the sitcom ‘FRIENDS’. Seeing the number of comments the post attracted, David Schwimmer himself took to Twitter to prove that he was in New York in a grocery store with a crate of beer when the theft took place. "Officers, I swear it wasn't me. As you can see, I was in New York. To the hardworking Blackpool Police, good luck with the investigation," Schwimmer wrote.

The Blackpool officers also took the initiative to investigate the matter and back Schwimmer’s claim. "Thank you to everyone for your speedy responses. We have investigated this matter thoroughly and have confirmed that David Schwimmer was in America on this date. We're so sorry it has to be this way”, wrote the Blackpool officers.

These are some of the hysterical comments the Police’s FB post attracted:

Rachel Louise Hutchinson It's not ross.....It's russ, he's trying to frame ross to win back Rachel

Martyn De Weert This is what happens when your job’s a joke and you’re broke.

Welsh Mart It obviously ain't Ross from friends, people need to grow up, it's without a doubt Russ from friends.

Aniqa Aslam I thought Ross knew the line between stealing and taking what the hotel owes him?

Kasey Charisse It may not have been his day, his week, his month or even his year but....he'll be there for you.

Sarah Willow That’s clearly not Ross. They’re as different as night and... later that night.

Simone Spencer That's no Ross Geller, that's the Holiday Armadillo!!!

Freddy Quinne So no one told you life was gonna be this way
Your job's a joke, you're broke
Your love life's DOA
It's like you're always stuck in second gear
And before you know it you're in SPAR stealing some beeeeeeeeer

Callum Marshall I recognise this guy - he stole my sandwich last week! MY SANDWICH!! MY SAANNNDDDWWWIIICCCHHH!!

Phil Atherton Don’t worry Blackpool police I’m sure he’ll be there for you when the rain starts to snow

The whole event took a hilarious twist with “Ross” proving his innocence by posting his video, and fans posting ludicrous comments about ‘Ross’ and the thief on Blackpool Police’s FB Post. The thief hasn’t been caught as of now and looks like he would have to make some serious effort from being arrested; keeping in mind the amount of attention his picture with a crate of beer is gaining on FB. Whether the police are successful in arresting him or not, the thief certainly has achieved his own ‘social media fame’!!
