Video of Turkey’s Hatay Airport Goes Viral; Here’s Why
At least 100 aftershocks measuring 4.0 or greater have occurred since the 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey on Monday morning local time, according to the United States Geological Survey.
A video of a runway in Turkey’s Hatay airport is doing the rounds on the internet. It has been fully destroyed.
The tarmac has been split into two parts. The video of the runway has been posted on all social media platforms. It is the only runway at the airport.
Due to this flight operations have been shut completely.
This is Turkey's worst disaster since decades.
Three earthquakes with magnitude 7.8, 7.6 and 6.0 respectively hit Turkey and North West Syria.
The epicentre of the earthquake was Gaziantep; a Turkish city.
5,600 buildings and major cities have been destroyed in Turkey.
The famous ancient castle in Gaziantep was also destroyed.
4,000 people are said to be dead and many are still trapped under the rubble.
Many countries have come forward and offered help including India and Israel.
