‘Haathi Mere Saathi’ Teaser Review: Wild Wild Forest Returns to Hindi Cinema with Rana Daggubatti

Save the Forest! Save Animals! Turn Vegan! Right from social media to the Oscar stage, the strive to save the planet and its residents are prevalent everywhere, and now in Hindi cinema too. ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’ attempts at reaching out to the masses with a similar message, using the most powerful language i.e. of the film.

With Rana Daggubatti and Pulkit Samrat in the major roles, ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’ brings forth the much relevant concern of how the corporates and the thriving industrialisation are destroying the forests, which are, as a matter of fact, home to countless lives, animals and birds. The process of forest destruction itself is not only affecting the Earth’s ecosystem but is a greater threat to all our existence.

Having said that, this is only the teaser offering us presumptions of the plot, it will take the entire film to judge whether it reaches up to the height of profundity it promises.

Also, ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’ is an Indian multilingual film, and was constantly shot in Tamil and Telugu with a different cast in each, except for our very own ‘Baahubali’ bad guy, Mr. Daggubatti

Known as ‘Kaadan’ in Tamil and ‘Aranya’ in Telugu, the film is directed by Prabhu Solomon, produced by Eros International and written by Niranjan Iyenger.

Coming to the appearance of the characters, the leading actors have been given a rustic look, which is impressive and is aligned with the subject. Rana Daggubatti and Pulkit Samrat, both carry the rough and ready attitude, and carry a woody aroma accentuating the mood.

Now, to one’s disappointment, if at all, ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’ only shares the name with Rajesh Khanna’s 1971 blockbuster, here the topic is much more crucial and real. But perhaps I was wrong, it would be a tribute to ‘Kaka’ if the film justifies that immortal bond between man and nature.
