The family is currently trying every bit to retain him in India, where he has grown up. They are also aiming to obtain a long-term Visa so that his deportation can be stopped, and that will allow him to spend a large amount of time with his family in the last years.
Vishnu also explained that the financial condition of the family is quite poor for which makes renewing the Visa challenging. The amount of around 15,000 that needs to be spent every 4 years. They are seeking a long-term Visa with a validity of around 10 or 15 years. Despite multiple appeals, the family could not secure a long-term visa. Also, this is the first time he has been asked to report to the FRO.
His grandchildren are also prohibited from getting any caste certificates since the man belongs to a different nationality. For this, the grandchildren are unable to be a part of the Government schemes. Wang Chi was arrested while he was working for People Liberation Army. He crossed the borders without knowledge and was apprehended by the Indian Army. He had entered through Arunachal Pradesh and served as an Engineer in the PLA.
He was treated as a spy rather than a war prisoner and was under the Indians for more than 8 years. After he secured his release, he preferred staying in India and married a local tribal woman, post which he started a family. Currently, the family is appealing to
The authorities to help the man in need and extend his visa. They are also seeking financial assistance to retain the man and get his visa renewed.
Keeping in mind the current situation, India is extremely strategic with decisions and they cannot afford any threat to the nation, especially because of the war escalation between India and Pakistan. China’s support to Pakistan may challenge India’s potential.
