Asian Games 2026: India Wins Silver in Men’s 10m Air Rifle; Rudrankksh, Himanshu Reach Individual Final

India’s shooting campaign at the Asian Games 2026 continued to gather momentum as Rudrankksh Patil, Himanshu Dhillon and Parth Mane combined to win silver in the men’s 10m air rifle team event in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

The Indian trio produced a combined score of 1890.1 points to finish second, while China claimed gold with a world-record team total of 1899.0. South Korea took bronze with 1884.2 points.

The result gave India another shooting medal early in the Games, while Rudrankksh and Himanshu added another reason for Indian fans to look ahead after both secured places in the individual final.

Rudrankksh Leads India’s Charge

Rudrankksh Patil delivered the strongest individual performance among the Indian shooters, finishing third in qualification with 631.8 points. Himanshu Dhillon also produced a solid 630.0 to finish seventh, while Parth Mane ended the qualification round in 11th with 628.3.

The top-eight finish for Rudrankksh and Himanshu secured their places in the men’s 10m air rifle individual final, giving both shooters another opportunity to fight for an individual medal later in the day. Parth narrowly missed the individual final after finishing outside the qualifying positions.

India’s Shooting Medal Run Continues

The India shooting Asian Games 2026 campaign has started strongly. The men’s team silver followed two silver medals won by India in the women’s 10m air rifle events on the opening day.

Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Uttam Maskar and Vidarsa Vinod had combined to win silver in the women’s 10m air rifle team event, before Elavenil added another silver in the individual competition. With the men’s team now adding another medal, shooting has quickly emerged as one of the early highlights of India’s Asian Games 2026 campaign.

China Set New World Record

India’s 1890.1 points were enough for silver, but China produced a record-breaking performance to take gold. The Chinese trio of Sheng Lihao, Ma Sihan and Zhang Changhong combined for 1899.0 points, improving the previous qualification world record by 0.6 points.

Rudrankksh’s 631.8 was particularly impressive as he recovered strongly after an opening series of 104.2. His consistency across the remaining series helped him finish among the leading individual qualifiers.

Rudrankksh and Himanshu Have Another Chance

The team silver is already a significant result for India, but the attention now shifts to the Rudrankksh Patil and Himanshu Dhillon individual final. Rudrankksh brings considerable experience to the competition. He won the men’s 10m air rifle individual world title at the 2022 ISSF World Championships and has previously represented India at major international competitions, including the Paris 2024 Olympics. For Himanshu, the Asian Games provide another important stage in his developing senior career. His seventh-place qualification finish earned him a place in the final and keeps India’s hopes alive for another podium finish in shooting.

India’s Asian Games Campaign Gathers Pace

The silver in the men’s 10m air rifle team event takes India’s shooting medal tally at Aichi-Nagoya to three, with all three medals coming in shooting so far. India’s shooters had previously produced a record 22-medal haul at the Hangzhou Asian Games, and the early results in Japan have once again highlighted the depth of the country’s shooting programme. With Rudrankksh Patil and Himanshu Dhillon now through to the individual final, India’s shooting campaign has another medal opportunity on the same day. The team silver may have opened the day, but the Indian shooters are clearly not finished yet.
