Couple from Bengaluru Arrested after Picture Went Viral of Cannabis in The Balcony

A couple from Bengaluru were arrested after they showed images of their garden where pots of cannabis were found. The couple identified as Sagar Gurung and Urmila Kumari from Sikkim lived in Shivdasnagar of Bangalore. On 18th October, the couple shared a video on social media showcasing their garden. Not only this, but the couple had close to two dozen cannabis pots which was seen in the video.

Police raided their home on 5th November after a tip-off the social media. Initially, the couple denied their involvement in such acts but a detailed search revealed that plants were emptied from pots which indicated a quick removal of the pots.

The couple agreed to grow cannabis in their home and also agreed to throw them when they were intimidated about the probable attack. The police found at least 17 pots of cannabis which they tried to destroy when the police came to their door. The police also claimed that the couple might have grown the cannabis for commercial purpose

Police further seized Kumari’s mobile phone which she used in order to capture and release the video of the gardening. A case has been filed against the couple under Narcotics Drug and Psychotropic Substance Use.

Bangalore has seen the growth of substance abuse among people. While the capital is battling with urban problems, there are certain minor challenges that authorities deal with. A month ago, Bangalore police busted a drug case where substances worth 21 crore were seized and is believed to be the largest drug bust of Karnataka so far.
