Google Maps Goof up! A Car Falls into A Canal after Following Google Maps
Car falls from 15 feet broken bride after Google Maps misguided the driver. Passengers are safe and the car is extracted in some time.
Another case of Google Maps has been found where it misled a car that fell into a canal. Google has not responded to this issue. The people involved in the accident suffered some injuries. The incident happened in Kalapura canal which is under Bareilly police station.
According to reports, DIvyanshu with two other friends was going to Philbit for a wedding occasion. However, Google Maps guided him to a narrow lane, eventually leading them to the canal. Immediately, Divyanshu noticed a broken bridge but lost control.
His car dropped close to 15 feet from the broken bridge. The canal was dry for which the car dropped upside down with the wheels of the car facing upward. The locals observed the case and contacted the police. In some time the car could be extracted with the help of a JCB.
According to Dhananjay Pandey, the Officer In charge of the Izzat Nagar police station claimed that three people were traveling in Tata Tigor who got misled because of Google Maps and fell from a broken bridge. He also added that all occupants of the car are safe and some damages have been caused to the car.
A similar incident was reported on 24th November which claimed the lives of 3 people including two brothers. The incident happened on the Ramganga River when the car followed Google Maps and ended up falling into the river. Back then Google Maps did not take any form of accountability for the incident.
Google Maps being a large conglomerate needs to ensure safety as there are a lot of people and travellers that rely on Google Maps for their easy route finding.
