Hera Pheri 3 in Turmoil: Legal Row and Star Shock over Paresh Rawal’s Exit
Paresh Rawal’s abrupt exit from Hera Pheri 3 has caused turmoil, leading to legal action from Akshay Kumar’s production. Suniel Shetty expressed deep shock over the disruption of the beloved franchise.
New Delhi: In a surprising and tumultuous turn of events, Akshay Kumar’s production banner, Cape of Good Films, has reportedly issued a legal notice to veteran actor Paresh Rawal, demanding $25 crore in damages. The dispute arose after Rawal allegedly walked out midway through the shooting of Hera Pheri 3, leaving the production in a state of limbo. The news, which surfaced on May 20, has left the film’s cast and crew, especially actor Suniel Shetty, completely flabbergasted.
Suniel Shetty, widely beloved for his role as Shayam in the iconic 2000 comedy Hera Pheri, learned of Rawal’s abrupt departure through his children, Athiya and Ahaan. While promoting his new film Kesari Veer in Delhi, Shetty expressed his bewilderment to India Today.
"I have no clue about this. This is shocking. I first thought about texting him, then I thought I'd meet him and discuss it. I have had no word about it with anybody as to what happened."
According to reports, Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal had already begun filming the much-anticipated sequel under the direction of the seasoned filmmaker Priyadarshan. The franchise, which has enjoyed cult status since its inception, saw its last release in 2006. Akshay Kumar, who has secured the rights from producer Feroz Nadiadwala, is also actively involved in the film’s production.
Calling the situation an “emotional cataclysm,” Shetty remarked, “This is a crisis. We are in the middle of this film, and this is the biggest shock.” The sudden development has not only shaken the crew but also disrupted the creative trajectory of the project, which had only just begun its early shoots, including a promo.
“We were going to begin shooting next year. We had already started. We shot a promo. It's a big thing. This is so shocking. I can't make sense of this. And you know who sent it? Athiya and Ahaan – they both sent it to me within 15 minutes, asking 'Papa, what is this?". Shetty added candidly.
The fervor around Hera Pheri 3 has been abuzz for over two years. Shetty further emphasized that the film is more than just another sequel; it's emotionally rejuvenating for the cast. “You know, this film is important for our mental health. I don't know what's going to happen,” he concluded.
As the legalities unfold, fans and cinephiles alike seek clarity on whether the trio that brought endless laughter will reunite or if this marks a melancholic denouement for the beloved franchise.
