Here’s Why Sonam Nair’s ‘Masaba Masaba’ is a Must Watch on Netflix

Web television series ‘Masaba Masaba’ is creating waves on Netflix for its entertaining and light hearted content. It is based on the fascinating life of Indian fashion designer Masaba Gupta, the daughter of Neena Gupta.

Both mother and daughter are playing themselves in the series. The series is Masaba’s own life playing out except that it is a tad fictionalized. It is a celebration of her life, her highs, her lows, the happy moments and the bitter ones, with a dash of love and support from her super cool mother.

It explores the relationship between Masaba and her mother Neena, the important lessons a mother laced with wisdom has to offer her daughter who is still trying to find a strong footing in this challenging world.

Since the makers and crew of the series are mostly women, we can expect to see aspects crucial to a woman’s life like her career, love life, relationships, friendships, marriage, separation and so on. Young women going through similar experiences will easily relate to the plot, played by two women protagonists from whom we have a lot to learn from.

The web series has generated a lot of curiosity as viewers are witnessing Masaba’s acting for the first time. And guess what! She’s brilliant at it. Reports suggest that she really worked hard to polish up her acting skills.

It is difficult to believe that the web series is Masaba Gupta’s first shot at acting because she appears very natural in her expressions and dialogue delivery.

The web series that hit screens on Netflix on August 28 is written and directed by Sonam Nair and produced by Ashvini Yardi’s Viniyard films. You’ll be surprised to catch a glimpse of Kiara Advani, Farah Khan, Shibani Dandekar and a few others playing cameos for the series.

We know that Masaba had her fair share of battles with her unconventional looks, the challenges of being raised by a single mother and faced racism at a young age. Likewise, Neena’s life was not bereft of problems. It would be inspiring to observe how these two bold women navigate their way in and out of these trials in ‘Masaba Masaba.’
