Social media and AI have created a challenge for users, as algorithms may prevent genuine posts. Many plugin software are attached to social media, which can lead to data theft.

How AI Is Being Misused across Social Media

Artificial intelligence has taken its place in many different software and applications, making it essential in daily life. AI has become a part of our lives, be it professional or personal. AI, can be risky at times, as it often takes up personal information and then may misuse it. Some common AI channels, such as Gemini and Chat GPT, have made news over the period, where they are solving problems for people and are also replacing the need for human labour

Speculations have been made all around, which claim that the AI can be harmful to the people who use it regularly. Such people are giving consent to the AI models to access their personal details, which might be misused. Social media sites use AI in their internal systems, which may flag posts that are genuine and ethical. There are certain pre-defined algorithms that may flag the posts and may call a genuine post as fake.

For content creators, these can be extremely challenging as all their effort will be wasted just because of one single algorithm. Businesses have also found a legitimate way by which they can focus on a specific niche of customers. Hence, the internal AI can also be challenging for the business as it may flag the page of the business, leading to an account suspension, where they will lose all the potential follower base they have created.

Other challenges of AI in social media include the fabrication of pictures and identity theft. Identity theft is one of the most concerning aspects of Social media. Fake profiles, businesses, and professions are highly susceptible to identity theft, which can affect the overall worthiness of the business or the individual. This has again happened because of various software plugins available in social media channels. This plugin can be used by users to turn their image into a creative piece.

One of the recent trends, Ghibli art, has many speculations around and many of which are true. Users can simply use their picture and write a prompt to get their desired image converted into a Ghibli style. However, the risk remains the same as AI takes the image while you give it consent to use it. Now the AI model has the autonomy to use the specific image in the way it wants. This means there are high chances of the image being circulated without permission, This poses far higher threat as the images can not just be used positively but can be used in an illegal activity as well.
