Indian Skeet Teams Fire India to Double Bronze at Asian Games 2026

India’s shooters had another reason to celebrate at the Asian Games 2026 as the country’s men’s and women’s skeet teams both secured bronze medals in Aichi-Nagoya. While two medals added to India’s growing shooting tally, the women’s team achieved something even more special, a first-ever Asian Games medal for India in the women’s team skeet event.

Women’s Team Creates History

Raiza Dhillon, Parinaaz Dhaliwal and Maheshwari Chauhan combined to score 331 points, earning India the bronze medal in the women’s skeet team event. Raiza and Parinaaz both recorded 111 points, while Maheshwari finished with 109.

China dominated the event with 357 points to take gold, while Kazakhstan finished second with 336. But for India, the result was about more than just the colour of the medal. The Indian women’s skeet team had finally put its name on the Asian Games podium in an event where the country had never previously won a team medal.

The performance also kept the spotlight firmly on Raiza and Parinaaz, who advanced to the individual final after their strong qualification rounds.

Men’s Team Battles Through Shoot-Off

India’s men’s skeet team also had to fight for its place on the podium. Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Bhavtegh Singh Gill finished with 346 points, level with Kazakhstan.

That meant the bronze medal had to be decided by a shoot-off. India held its nerve when it mattered most and came through to claim the medal.

Qatar won gold with 353 points, while Kuwait took silver with 348. Anantjeet was India’s top scorer with 119 points, followed by Mairaj with 116 and Bhavtegh with 111.

For Anantjeet, the day became even more significant as he also booked his place in the men’s individual skeet final.

More Than Just Two Bronze Medals

The India skeet bronze medal wins were not simply additions to the medal tally. They showed the depth of Indian shooting, with experienced competitors and younger shooters contributing on the same stage.

Raiza and Parinaaz both made the women’s individual final after scoring 111 out of 125 in qualification. Raiza narrowly missed another medal, finishing fourth, while Parinaaz ended the final in eighth place.

Anantjeet also reached the men’s individual final after his impressive qualification score of 119. Although India did not add another medal from the individual skeet finals, the performances underlined the strength of the country’s Asian Games shooting contingent.

Manu Bhaker’s Medal Wait Continues

The day also brought disappointment for Manu Bhaker, who was unable to add another Asian Games medal to her growing collection. The Olympic medallist finished fifth in the women’s 10m air pistol final with 181.1 points.

South Korea’s Gaeun Choo won gold with a Games-record 246.3 points, while China’s Yiyao and Ranxin Jiang claimed silver and bronze.

Bhaker’s result may not have gone her way, but India’s shooters still had plenty to celebrate thanks to the strong performances in skeet.

India’s Shooting Team Keeps Delivering

The double bronze medals added another highlight to India’s campaign at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026. Shooting has once again emerged as one of the country’s important medal-producing sports, with Indian athletes competing strongly across rifle, pistol and skeet events.

For the Indian skeet teams, however, these medals carry a special significance. The men fought through a shoot-off to secure their place on the podium, while the women broke new ground with India’s first-ever Asian Games medal in women’s team skeet.

With more events still to come, India’s shooting campaign has already shown plenty of promise and the skeet teams have given the country two more reasons to celebrate.
