Iran Appeals to US Voters With 25-Page Letter Targeting Trump Policies

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has issued a 25-page open letter directly addressing American voters ahead of the US midterm elections, urging them to oppose President Donald Trump's policies and push for a change in Washington's approach toward Tehran.

The unusual appeal comes as the US-Iran conflict enters its seventh month and tensions remain high over Iran's nuclear programme, US military operations and the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

IRGC Calls for Change in US Policy

The letter, addressed to the American public, argues that the US campaign against Iran has failed to achieve its stated objectives. The IRGC called on Americans to reconsider their country's foreign policy, particularly its support for Israel and involvement in overseas military operations.

IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebbi said the organisation did not expect the message to change the Trump administration's position. However, he said the letter was intended to reach American voters several weeks before the November 3 midterm elections.

Iran's military force also accused Trump of misleading the American public over Tehran's nuclear programme and the situation surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran Says It Wants Peaceful Coexistence

The letter presents Iran's position that Tehran and Washington could establish peaceful relations if US policy changes. Iranian officials have repeatedly maintained that their nuclear programme is intended for peaceful purposes and have rejected accusations that Tehran is seeking nuclear weapons.

The IRGC also argued that the US and Israel failed to accomplish their declared objectives despite extensive military strikes against Iran. These statements represent Iran's assessment of the conflict and have not been independently established as a measure of the military campaign's outcome.

Strait of Hormuz Remains a Key Issue

Mohebbi also challenged US claims that Iran has lost much of its leverage over the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route for global energy shipments.

According to Kpler data cited by Reuters, oil exports through the strait were recovering in September and were expected to approach 10 million barrels per day, roughly half their pre-war level.

The dispute over the waterway has remained central to diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran. Iran has previously proposed reopening the strait as part of a wider arrangement involving renewed negotiations, while Trump has rejected Tehran's latest proposal.

Letter Comes Ahead of US Midterms

The timing of the IRGC's message places it directly in the period leading up to the November midterm elections. The organisation is seeking to connect the war, US foreign policy and domestic political concerns in its appeal to American voters.

The letter represents an attempt by Iran to communicate directly with the US public while diplomatic tensions between the two governments remain unresolved. Washington and Tehran continue to disagree over Iran's nuclear activities, sanctions, military operations and the future of the Strait of Hormuz.
