Kerala Child’s Request to Eat Biryani And Chicken May Lead to Menu Change at Anganwadi

A young boy’s desire to eat biryani and chicken fry may result in the possible menu change at Kerala’s Anganwadi.

In a viral video, Thrajul S Sankar aka Shanku, can be heard saying, “I want biryani and chicken fry at the anganwadi instead of upma.”

The mother filmed this video, while she was feeding him Biryani at home.

Some viewers even offered to bring him Biryani and Chicken Fry after seeing the video.

“After seeing the video, we received calls from some people who offered biryani and chicken fry to Shanku," Shanku’s mother told a news channel.

Surprisingly, the video reached Kerala’s Health, Women, and Child Welfare Minister Veena George. After seeing the video, she has assured to make changes in the menu of Kerala’s Anganwadi.

She posted the video on her Facebook page and mentioned that the child’s  request will be taken seriously.

She also sent her wishes to Shanku, his mother, and the anganwadi staff.

“Under this government, a scheme to provide eggs and milk through anganwadis has been successfully implemented. In coordination with the Department of Women and Child Development, local bodies provide a variety of foods in anganwadis," George said.

Kerala has around 33,000 angawadis. The government is also working to transform these angawadis into smart centres with study rooms, restrooms, kitchens, storerooms, dining areas, halls, gardens, and play zones.
