LG Electronics to Launch Next Flagship Smartphone 'Judy' in June 2018 with 6.1-inch Display, Snapdragon 845 Chipset

LG Electronics is expected to Launch Next Flagship Smartphone in June 2018 with 6.1-inch Display and Snapdragon 845, which is code-named "Judy". Earlier the Consumer Electronics Firm was reported to launch their new flagship smartphone at MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2018. But later it confirmed that the launch will not happen until June. The smartphone will have an all-new design and will not be part of its famed G series. The information comes from Evan Blass of VentureBeat.

New Design, Enhanced Display and Low on Power Consumption

LG announced that it was going to take a break from its usual smartphone launch cycle but is yet to mention whether it will be launching any flagships this year.

According to the report, Evan believes that the new smartphone will sport a fresh design and feature in a number of colour schemes.
'Judy' is expected to come with a 6.1-inch 18:9 display which is significantly larger than the 5.7-inch display with a resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels on the G6 last year. The company is also expected to feature a new type of display panel called MLCD+ and the device uses a new type of technology. Evan says that this panel will be capable of 800-nit brightness while consuming 35 percent less power in comparison to conventional LCD display panels.

AI Ready Camera with Dual 16 MP Sensors and Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Chipset

Considering the internal components, Judy is expected to be rated at the top of the next generation smartphone, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Chipset coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64 GB of onboard storage. On the camera front, we get dual 16 MP sensors with f/1.6 aperture on the back while we do not know much about the front camera yet.
Additionally, there will be wireless charging support, boomsound stereo speakers, IP68 durability, water and dust resistant, voice assistant, camera AI (Artificial Intelligence) and is expected to feature support for HDR10.

The report is in absolute sync with previous rumours of LG redesigning the G7 flagship smartphone from scratch. It has also been claimed that LG is considering to rename its G-series, which is a part of the change in smartphone strategy. According to LG’s Vice Chairman and CEO Jo Seong-jin, the company will not launch new flagship smartphones just because the competitors are doing. Let’s wait for the launch of LG Judy, it maybe better than Huawei’s P20, who knows.
