More Sky Marshals, Hoax Callers to Be Blacklisted, DGCA Proposes a New Set of Policies
BCAS develops a new set of rules and regulations, to enforce more sky marshals and put hoax callers on the blacklist. “No need to panic,” says DG BCAS.
In the past 3 days, more than 12 aircraft have received hoax bomb threats which is causing disruption in the flight operations and also hampering the passenger travel time. The exact source of frequent hoax threats has not been assessed yet. DGCA confirmed that it will be taking certain steps that will help in easing the flight operations.
The new set of rules suggests that anyone indulging in the hoax bomb threat be put on a no-fly list which will prohibit them from making any travel with the airline. Authorities have claimed that security at the airports has been increased for the safety of the passengers. Moreover, the number of sky marshals has also increased which can deal with any situation in the sky.
The culprits behind the hoax calls have not been identified however, the police are working to nab them. Airlines are requesting the Government to step into the situation. Certain carriers such as Air India have decided to counter such hoax callers with legal action. Passengers and airliners are looking forward to the government to solve this dispute as it affects the time.
An Akasa Airways flight from Delhi to Bangalore along with Indigo Airways Mumbai Ahmedabad flight received a bomb threat post which they were diverted to different destinations. Frequent hoax threats are extremely challenging and the airlines have to spend a high amount of money on emergency landings and inspections.
DG Zulfiqar Hassan confirmed that there is no reason to panic as the sky is safe to fly. Additional measures are being taken so that such issues can be neglected with ease. Police across the country are trying hard to ensure culprits are being nabbed and arrested.
