Organizers of Khushwant Singh Literary Festival Face Flak for Celebrating Indrani Mukerjea at The Literary Event

Indrani Mukerjea has once again come under scrutiny after she performed at the renowned Khushwant Singh Literary Festival in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh.

The organizers of the festival are receiving flak for inviting the former media executive, who is the prime accused in the mysterious murder of her daughter, Sheena Bora.

The news of Indrani Mukerjea's dance performance at the literary festival has not been well-received by some online commentators.

Some believe that it was not appropriate for the organizers to celebrate her, considering she is the prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case.

She was also a panelist in the last edition of the festival.

She was also charged with conspiracy, kidnapping, giving false information, and destroying evidence.

One commenter explained that an accused person out on bail should not be given such a privilege.

Another expressed anger at seeing Indrani Mukerjea being legitimized at a literary festival, especially one named after Khushwant Singh.

Others questioned the moral judgement and decision-making of the festival organizers.

“How did the organizers allow this?”, they wrote on X.

Indrani Mukerjea was the former wife of Peter Mukerjea, a retired Indian television executive.

Together with her husband, she co-founded INX Media and served as its CEO. After being accused in the murder case of Sheena Bora in 2015, she was imprisoned for six years, before finally getting bail. A docu-series ‘The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth’ was released in February 2024 that explores the controversial Sheena Bora murder case. Indrani has also written a memoir in 2023 titled ‘Unbroken’ which was published by HarperCollins.
