Ronaldo Buys World’s Most Expensive Car

Though Bugatti has officially refused to declare the identity of its first and only owner at this stage, Spanish sports daily Marca has reported that the new owner is the Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo who plays his club football for Italian Serie A giants Juventus.

Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has recently laid out his hands on the ‘Voiture Noire’ also known as ‘black car’ by Bugatti. The car is considered the most expensive car ever built in the world. So far only a single model has been built. The car Bugatti La Voiture Noire is a modern adaptation of the mythical and legendary Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic, four of which were built between 1936 and 1938.


Though Bugatti has officially refused to declare the identity of its first and only owner at this stage, Spanish sports daily Marca has reported that the new owner is the Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo who plays his club football for Italian Serie A giants Juventus. Earlier there was a report that Ferdinand Piech, former Chairman of the Volkswagen Group, owns the car.


According to some other media reports, Ronaldo has spent 11 million euro (9.49 million pounds) to buy the Bugatti. The model was first presented to the world at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Ronaldo won’t be able to drive the car till 2021, as the car still needs to finish a few details on its prototype.


The Bugatti with its 1500 horsepower has an engine which is capable of reaching 420 kilometres per hour, a speed that is not actually reached or the vehicle could not remain adherent to the ground. It has an 8.0 liter turbocharged W16 engine which is capable of taking its driver to the speed as high as 260 mph.


Ronaldo is famous for his love of cars and has a rich collection of luxury cars which also includes a Mercedes C Class Sport Coupe, a Rolls-Royce Phantom, a Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4, a Ujn an Aston Martin DB9, Ferrari 599 GTO, a McLaren MP4 12C and a Bentley Continental GTC Speed.

According to a Business Insider list, it is not just cars which attracts the fascination of Ronaldo, who also spends his money on expensive suits, $20,200 Tag Heuer watches and incredible properties around the world.


Ronaldo has made this wealth by his exemplary soccer skills and is now able to fund his shopping sprees because he was named the third best-paid athlete on the planet in 2018 according to the Forbes.

An estimate shows the footballer has earned $61 million in 2018 from his playing career and further earned a $47 million through endorsements from blue-chip companies like Tag Heuer, Herbalife and Nike.
