Taylor Swift will be the Recipient of the Artist of the Decade Trophy at This Year's American Music Awards

Taylor Swift seems to be on a roll this year. Her album “Lover” became an instant hit and now it was announced that she will be receiving the prestigious Artist of the Decade trophy on November 24th, 2019.

Last time the award was given away in the year 2000 and Garth Brooks was the who received the award.

Receiving awards is not new to Swift. The songstress has already received the Artist of the Year trophy four times and to add to it she has been nominated for the same category this year as well.

Taylor Swift is the only female who has won the highest number of AMA awards among all the female singers. Right now Michael Jackson is holding the record of winning the most number of  AMA awards and Taylor may overtake him if she wins two awards this year. She has already won 23 AMAs this decade. This year too, she has been nominated under different categories. Her new album "Lover,"  is nominated for favorite pop/rock album. "You Need to Calm Down" is nominated for the best video. The ‘Lover’ singer has also been nominated for the favorite female artist, favorite contemporary artist and the favorite artist of the year. With so many awards in her kitty, she undoubtedly deserves the title Artist of the decade.

Dick Clark Productions executive Mark Bracco rightly stated, "Taylor's impact on music this decade is undeniable, and her performances on the American Music Awards have been truly spectacular."

He also added, "We're thrilled to honor her as our Artist of the Decade and can't wait for her to blow everyone away with an epic, career-spanning performance unlike any other!"

This year Taylor Swift will be competing against Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande in the categories, favorite female artist and favorite pop/rock album. 

The past decade was an interesting decade for Swift as she had many ups and downs and highs and lows. Ten years ago during the VMA awards, Kanye West had come up on stage and said that Taylor did not deserve the video of the year and that it should have been given to Beyonce. However, in those ten years, she won 10 Grammys and proved her mettle.

This year, Swift will be performing on stage during the AMA ceremony. So, her fans will be looking forward to it.

Swift is also scheduled to perform in Shanghai, China on November 10th, 2019. The concert is being sponsored by the Chinese e-commerce giant, Alibaba Group Holdings Ltd. and it will be televised nationally. 

So, we wish Swift all the best for the good things coming up for her.

The 2019 American Music Awards will broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Nov 24.
