Thor Star Chris Hemsworth Makes Donation of $1 Million for Australian Fire Catastrophe

Chris Hemsworth has proved that his heart is as big as his character, Thor. Yes, the Thor star has donated a whopping $1 million to the firefighters that are currently fighting the fire in the Australian subcontinent.


In a video posted by the Avengers’ Endgame star, Hemsworth was seen making an announcement asking fans to also chip in and do their best to help out.


Chris began the video saying, "Hi everyone. Like you, I want to support the fight against the bushfires here in Australia, my family and I are contributing a million dollars. Hopefully you guys can chip in too. Every penny counts so whatever you can muster up is greatly appreciated."


He also mentioned, "I’ve added links to support the firefighters, organisations and charities who are working flat out to provide support and relief during this devastating and challenging time". 


He added: "Beyond appreciative to everyone around the world for their well wishes and donations. It really does make a difference, so dig deep! Love ya."


Almost 15 acres of bush which is a vast area has been charred to ashes by the raging fire. Thousands of homes have been destroyed and animals killed. 21 people were reported dead. The fire is so huge that it can also be seen from space. 


CONTRIBUTIONS BY OTHER CELEBRITIES


Hemsworth is not the only one who has contributed towards the wildfire relief efforts. They are many more who have donated and offered their support for the cause.

Among them is Pink. She has donated $500,000.

Ellen Degeneres proved to be a generous one as she donated to many charities to show her support. She tweeted, "It's almost impossible to understand the size and destruction of the fires in Australia. Here are three organizations I've already donated to. I hope you'll donate, too". 

Selena Gomez has also shown her support by making a donation and encouraging others to join too. She tweeted ,"Absolutely devastated by the fires in Australia. Praying for everyone affected and all of the first responders. I'm making a donation and would love if you would consider doing the same if you can" .

Kim Kardashian has also mentioned on her twitter handle that she has made a donation to help.  

The famous Australian couple, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have also donated $500,000.

Russell Crowe who grew up in Australia helped to raise $400,000. 

Crowe, who stayed away from the Golden Globe awards event, made it a point to use the platform even while being absent to make people aware of the effects of climate change. Presenter Jennifer Aniston read out his message in which he said, "Make no mistake the tragedy unfolding in Australia is climate-change based, we need to act based on science, move our global workforce to renewable energy, and respect our planet for the unique and amazing place it is that way we all have a future."

The 51-year-old Aussie pop superstar, Kylie Minogue and her family pledged to help and show their support to the people of Australia. She tweeted: “As a family, we’ve donated $500,000. With love.”

Meanwhile, Chris Hemsworth’s new  Marvel film Thor: Love and Thunder which will be directed by Taika Waititi -- was supposed to be filmed in Australia, however, with the bush fire, there is a possibility of the schedule being changed.

Thor: Love and Thunder are set for a release date of November 5, 2021.
