Advance Booking Performance
One of the biggest highlights of the film's theatrical debut is its remarkable advance booking performance.
Before its release, Ramayana had already generated more than ₹100 crore in gross advance ticket sales in the domestic market for its opening weekend. The Hindi version accounted for a substantial share of these bookings, contributing nearly three-fourths of the domestic advance sales.
The film also attracted considerable interest in southern markets, with the Kannada and Telugu versions recording encouraging ticket sales. Yash's casting as Ravana has been an important talking point, particularly among audiences in these regions.
The overseas market has further strengthened the film's pre-release business. International advance bookings reportedly reached approximately $5.6 million, with North America emerging as a significant contributor. Paid preview screenings in the region also added to the film's overall advance sales.
Combining domestic and international figures, the film's worldwide advance bookings have crossed the ₹150 crore mark.
With the extended opening weekend and festive holiday period offering additional opportunities to attract moviegoers, the film could see further growth in its theatrical run.
The film brings together a prominent ensemble cast, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, to recreate one of India's most celebrated mythological stories, adding considerable star power to its central conflict
The supporting cast includes Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Shobana and Vivek Oberoi.
The music is another major highlight, with celebrated composers AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer collaborating on the project.
Released in five languages — Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam — the film aims to connect with audiences across different regions of India as well as international markets.
A Grand Two-Part Cinematic Project
Ramayana is envisioned as a two-part cinematic adaptation of the ancient Indian epic. Produced by Namit Malhotra in collaboration with Yash's Monster Mind Creations, the project reportedly carries a combined production budget of around ₹4,000 crore.
The scale of the production and its extensive cast have made it one of the most ambitious Indian film projects in recent years.
The second instalment is currently planned for a Diwali 2028 release, although the makers are yet to announce a confirmed release date.
Can Ramayana Maintain Its Box Office Momentum?
The opening-day numbers and impressive advance bookings have given Ramayana Part 1 a promising start. However, the real test lies ahead.
With audience interest already high, the coming days will be crucial in determining whether the film can sustain its momentum and translate its massive pre-release buzz into long-term box office success.
The festive holiday period could work in its favour, but its performance over the opening weekend will offer a clearer picture of its theatrical prospects.
For now, Ranbir Kapoor and Yash's much-anticipated mythological spectacle has made a strong beginning, setting the stage for what could become a significant box office run.
