RRR’s Naatu Naatu Song Was Shot Outside President Zelensky’s House in Ukraine

The song ‘Naatu Naatu’ has gone viral after it bagged the Golden Globe Award for ‘Best Original Song.’

Not many are aware though that the song was shot outside Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky’s official residence in Kiev known as the Mariinskyi Palace.

The movie was shot in Ukraine a few months before war broke out between Ukraine and Russia.

Director of RRR SS Rajamouli gave an interview earlier before the film’s release. He said, “We shot the Naatu Naatu song in Ukraine. It is a real location. Actually, it is the Ukrainian President’s palace. There is a parliament right beside the palace. Luckily, they gave us permission to shoot because the Ukrainian president was a television actor. The funny thing is that he acted as the President in a TV series before becoming the President.”

The last segment of the film was shot in Ukraine.

When the film was being promoted in 2022 SS Rajamouli heard about the war which disheartened him.

“We had gone there to shoot some crucial scenes. When we were shooting, I had no idea about the issues that have now escalated into a war. It was only after I returned and looking at things now, did I understand the seriousness of the issue,” Rajamouli said.

‘Naatu Naatu’ was composed by MM Keeravani and the original Telugu lyrics were written by Chandrabose. The catchy track has been sung by  Rahul Sipilgunj, Kaala Bhairava and choreographed by Prem Rakshith. The hook step performed by NTR Jr and Ram Charan in the film became very popular.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, A R Rehman and fans all over the world have extended their congratulatory wishes to the team behind the famed song for their historical win at the Golden Globes.
